Tuesday 23 October 1917
No early flying. Very windy but clear after breakfast. Flew over to drop a note to the Vidals. It failed to open out so I flew over again & dropped another. Heavy rain came on about 11. Got the Colonel's permission to wash out the flight for the afternoon. Went to Vidals after lunch to shoot. Rain & wind spoilt the shooting though we got one hare. Back to tea & bath & dinner at the Vidals. Danced & played games till 11. Drove back to aerodrome to bed.
