Monday 9 April 1917
Up at 9. To aerodrome – very windy & stormy. No flying during morning. After Church I went up in BE2C for a few minutes to test the weather which was too bad for pupils. Down to tea about 4. Pethy drove me to West Croydon to catch the 5.30 which didn't run! Waited till 6 & got a train to London Bridge. Taxi to the Regent Palace & met old Maurice. Dinner at "Les Gobelins" – an amusing adventure with an R.N.R. [Royal Naval Reserve Reserve] man. Went to see "Hanky Panky" – good in patches. Grand to see old [indecipherable] again. It is over 3 months since I last saw him. Caught the 11.40 to Wallington & walked home.
