Tuesday 23 January 1917
Up at 9. Very cold frosty day but fine. Went up at 10.40 with Fawsett on photos. Up for 1 hour 40 minutes but camera broke after I had taken one photo. No "archie". Up again at 1.15 & took five more photos when camera broke down again! Up for an hour & a half. Very cold. Poor White died to-day. Foster is doing well. Woodley, Kellett & White were buried during the afternoon. I see by the casualty lists that poor old "Tunks" Walsh has been killed.
The moat is well frozen & will bear tomorrow if the frost lasts.
