Wednesday 26 December 1917
Up at 8.30 & off to the station with Segrave. Left him there & started to take his car back to the Park for him. Ran out of petrol just outside Cirencester! Walked to the Rectory & had breakfast!! Went to the Park in a sidecar & got some petrol which we took to the car & I drove it to the Park. To the aerodrome by sidecar & reported to 62 Squadron. I have "B" Flight – only two Fighters at present. After lunch took up a 275 HP Fighter but the rudder was awfully stiff & almost dangerous. Took up an RE8 later & found it very strange after flying Bristols so much. Fenton & I went to the Rectory to dinner. The W-M's came after dinner & we had a splendid dance. Back to aerodrome to bed about 12.30.
Xmas Card from Major Henderson.
