Thursday 28 June 1917
A very dull cloudy day. Managed to get in enough flying in to finish off Northam & Winter. This completes our 16 pilots graduated on RE8's during the month. Rather a good performance all things considered. The C.O. is very bucked about it. I only made one short flight to test the weather.
Guest night in the mess – the Russians came to dinner. Sly, Sayer, Buckeridge, Mitchell, Luxton & I went to Oxford & saw the "Belle of New York" at the local theatre. To the R.F.C. Club after & then back to camp, where we made a noise before turning in.
My old pupil Campbell has already become a flight-commander! He is a great lad.
