Sunday 20 May 1917
Very tired. Up at 9.30. To Mass at 10.30. Low clouds & rain in morning. To aerodrome at about 12 & developed some films for Pethey. After lunch went back to aerodrome. Snow came over after lunch. Took him up in RE8 to show him all about it. He was much impressed with the machine. He came to tea at the "Dell" & I walked round to Wallington with him after. Great to see the old chap again. Went back to the aerodrome about 6. The weather had improved a lot so we had a good deal of flying. Took Wells, an Australian, up for a joy ride in RE8. I took Irwin up in the dual RE8 to try the control. It is a great success – he flew it in the air and landed it from the back seat. Down to dinner about 9.30. Very weary. Have to be up at 4.30 tomorrow. It is raining now so I hope it will be raining then!
