Saturday 4 August 1917
Up at 9. After breakfast the C.O. drove me to the aerodrome. Found I was posted to 62 squadron Rendcomb but the C.O. rang up the wing & it was cancelled. Raining all day. After lunch I was on a court of enquiry into Barnes crash. Went to the hospital to get his evidence. Had tea at the George with Buck & Fletcher. Met Pethy at the Clarendon. It looked like clearing up so Buck & I drove back to the aerodrome in the Morgan but it rained again. Back to Oxford with Buck to dinner at Buols. Played poker from 10.30 till 1.30 with Pethy, Marbury, Buck & "Bull" Durham. Lost about 10/-. Back to camp in the Met.
