Monday 19 February 1917
Up at 10. After Breakfast Winkley & I drove round Brighton trying to imagine what it might be like when there wasn't a thick fog! He dropped me at the Metropole & went off back to Bournemouth. I payed our bill & took a taxi round to "Northumberland Hall" where Aunty had taken a nice room for me. After lunch we yarned till tea time. After tea we took a tram to the station to meet Mary. On the station I met Simons – who was at Oxford in June – who had been in No. 4 but was hit in the wrist by "archie" after a month in France. Drove back to our "home" in a cab. Wrote letters till dinner time. "Bean" Bull came to dinner & took us to the Hippodrome after. It was quite a good show. Walked back to bed.
