Tuesday 30 January 1917
Up at 9. Started fine but clouded over during the morning & began snowing. Loafed in the morning. After lunch played hockey on the ice without skates. It was very slippery & we had great fun and many falls. Cedric Cohen came in after dinner & yarned till midnight. He goes off soon. The compass expert who is attached to us for a few days caused much amusement and astonishment by sitting down to lunch and producing a greasy parcel of sausages which he put on the table in front of him and proceeded to eat!
