Thursday 22 February 1917
Up at 11 after breakfast in bed. Bus to Bond St. Ordered goggles at Herbert Johnson's. Had animated photos taken at Pike's. Walked to Cox & Co. & then back to the Picadilly in the hope of meeting Foster. Met Guy Davenport. Round to the Regent Palace to lunch. Went to the Bank by bus & got two letters. By Tube to Tottenham Court Road & went to the St. George's Hall & saw Maskelyne's Mysteries. Bus to Regent Palace where I met Fitzgerald & Lawrence & we dined together & went to see "Under Cover" – an excellent show. Matheson Lang & Jessie Winter were very good. Walked as far as the Regent Palace with Fitzgerald & then got a taxi to the Thackeray. I am sick of hanging round London doing nothing. If my orders don't come tomorrow I think I'll go to the War Office & ask for them.
