Saturday 27 January 1917
Up at 9. Another very cold day & very strong wind. Went off in a tender with Fawsett to "Ada" South after breakfast. Saw Major Lyon & arranged a shoot method of observing his share in strafing the Bosch front line. Back at 11.15. After much trouble starting the engine got off at 12.5 and started to shoot at 12.20. Got going well and observed nearly 70 rounds by 1.20 when my engine went wrong and I had to come back. Landed at 1.40. A very successful shoot. After lunch Major Lyon came round and was very pleased about it. Skated a bit in the evening. Went to dinner at "B" Flight.
