Friday 10 August 1917
Another very windy & cloudy day. Up about 10. Went up to test weather in morning but it was far too bad for pupils. After lunch swung two of the RE8 compasses. In evening took Pethy up to test the weather which was fairly good about 8 p.m. Gave Lt. Clarke some dual. Back to dinner about 9.30. Was just going to bed when word came that Sly had had a bad crash in his car so I went out in the tender to bring them in. No one hurt but car badly knocked about. Back to bed about 12 after pushing the car off the road.
