Tuesday 27 February 1917
Up at 6.30 for early morning flying but a thick mist prevented work. Back to breakfast & washed & shaved. Back to the aerodrome after breakfast but the thick mist prevented any flying. I had a busy morning in the flight at other things. After lunch it cleared and we got some flying done. Went up to test a BE2b. Had a very straight talk with Saunders. Flying ended about 5. Back to the "Dell" & had tea. Changed for dinner. Wrote letters after. Cable from home that all are well. Home mail at last. Poor old Mother & Father & Eileen had a very very sad time. Aunt Liz was awfully ill when they wrote and poor Mrs. Maher was down with acute appendicitis.
