"...and you are going to build a new ferry? he asked.
"No, we are agoing to build two new ferries," said Wran.
White looked startled. "Can I quote you on that?"
"you certainly can. I've already given the details to your reporter."
(The next day the Daily would devote a front page to the Premier's visit, carrying the headlines:
"TASK FORCE FOR TOURISM: WRAN GIVES GO-AHEAD TO NEW GROWTH...SECOND NEW FERRY.")
We finished our tea, and set off on the main event of the day, a walk down the Corso. To draw a lunch time crowd, Donna had arranged for the popular Allambie School Band to play in the amphitheatre of the new Corso Plaza. We headed towards the music. Behind walked the two members of Special Branch and Brian Dale. As we approached the crowd, Wran turned asside, reaching for outstretched hands. Suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my kidney region:
"Keep up beside him!" Dale hissed in my ear, giving me another jab with his fingers.
Wran was halted by people wanting to shake his hand; and Thorburn saw her chance.
