According to Alexander Pope: "The proper study of mankind is man" . A Jesuit teacher once told me that there were many things that could be studied, but by far the most interesting subject was human nature. Hence, I have tried to learn something about people and their interactions. Having seen some of the whels of goverment, I remain   intrigued by the dynamics of our society in a finite and transient world. No matter how sophsitcated the structure, the foundation rests on the imperfect but sublime human condition. Through chance and necessity, we may catch a few glimpses of what Arthur Koestler described as "the ghost in the machine"
