The main advantage being that one never gets used to it.

The grains of sand are all very much worn and rounded. Probably this wearing down is due more to wind action than to water action and this gradual attrition has gone on for countless ages.   Such being the case that sand is useless for building material (sand with sharp edges being preferable). It is really singular how little really good building material is to be found in Egypt. Nearly all the antiquities that have been unearthed, are of funereal origin.
