Another similar case. The man who secured the coveted honour had used his motor car to carry electors to the booth. The opponent who protested stated that he had known such was going to be done, he could have hired a motor car.

One of the funniest instances given by Mr. Chinn happened in an outlying village where an "omdah" still reigned. The omdah is fast dying out. He is a man who takes the whole responsibility of the village on his own shoulders. Should any government property be stolen he must replace it. If the Gov. wants to punish one of the villagers who cannot be found the omdah has to take the punishment. In return he wields a tremendous amount of authority. At this particular village the omdah collected all the men of the village who had a right to vote and marched them up to the booth. The first man went in and was asked whom he wanted to vote for, to which he replied :- "I don't know, the omdah is outside, you had better ask him.
