My dear Mother,
Your letter of 28th May & several papers to hand. Annie also forwarded one of your letters to her. So you see I have been well posted with home news especially as Eric has been able to give me all the latest at first hand.
Isn't it a coincidence that I should receive the notice of Frank's marriage on the very day of the wedding. I do sincerely hope that they will both be very happy. You will miss him very much out of the house. It is a pity that Father can't get to town. Surely it is time they gave him a position nearer home.
Had very sad news from the front the other day, & that was that Lt. Col. Howell Price of the 3rd Batt. had been killed by a stray shell whilst in billet behind the firing line. The poor old 3rd has been unlucky with its colonels. Price was the 4th Col. He came away from Australia
