Chrephen or Kephren has still some of the casing stone round the top. For this reason the second is more difficult to scale than the big pyramid. It is necessary to take the boots off or to wear sandshoes when attempting this climb. However, the military authorities have since placed Chephren out of bounds.

Beside each pyramid was a temple connected by a causeway with another small temple on the level with the Nile. The fact that each of the Gizeh pyramids had adjuncts of two temples and
