7. Tis true there's a lack of good old glass
But that defect we can easily pass
For its slender columns seem to inspire
Us to "hitch our wagon" to something higher.

8. In the shady cloisters many rest
Who lived & loved with eager zest
There in that peaceful spot they lie
And watch Life's travellers passing by.

9. But we couldn't linger there very long
As our other plans would have gone all wrong
So off to meet Nora & Mrs Moore
And through the city make a detour.

10. We passed the quaint old Poultry Cross
Where I'm sure of old they played pitch & toss
Then on to Old Sarum & "Ye Olde Castle Inn"
Both of which seemed to interest "him".

11. After we'd polished off our rations
We went to see the excavations
Begun about seven years ago
You'll find it all in the guide-book. So

12. Along green banks where the Avon flows
The little motor smoothly goes
Past quaint cottages & farms
A thousand miles from war's alarms.
