It is quite a good band too & with a little more practice, should sound A.1. They play every evening whilst the guards are changing. It makes the ceremony of guard mounting much more impressive.
Got a great surprise the other day. I think I have often mentioned Les Coulter to you. He was at Ballarat with me. He reported here last week, & left today to rejoin his unit - the 3rd Tunnelling Coy - in France. He never left Aust. until about a year ago & yet he is now a full blown Maj. It seems awfully hard on some of the originals who got hit or sick & can't return to the front. They lose all promotions, though it is not their fault they were hit. Yet these late comers pass the old days by leaps & bounds. I am speaking generally of course. Les Coulter was able to give me quite a lot of information about some of the old S.M.Bs. Ern Fraser has lost his right arm, and Alec Campbell was hit pretty badly & is being returned to Aust.
On Sunday night I went to London & came back on Monday afternoon. It was another very rush trip. It was another Court
