for a while. I am not sure whether Eric is going direct to Greenhall, or to the Lake District first. Mrs Moore has been staying at the Lakes, & Eric may be able to put in a few days there before going on to Greenhall.

It is funny how directions are still given in France by means of places which no longer exist. For instance you ask the way to a certain place, and your guide will perhaps say,- "Go straight along until you come to Café ------- & then turn to your right." You go straight on & come to a few bricks by the roadside. You then have to use your own discretion whether the bricks are the said Café or not.
