the small medal of which you speak has not come along yet. By the way I hope the Military Cross which I sent some time back has arrived safely by now.
You would have enjoyed a trip I had the day before leaving Greenhall. We started early in the small car - Darracq €“ for Ayr. We had a good look round Burn's Country and saw the cottage he was born in & also the Monument that has been erected to him by the Banks o' the Doon.
We followed the coast down past Aye for some distance. On the way we stopped & had a look at Dunure Castle. Do you remember the incident in Ivanhoe where the Abbott was roasted over a big fire. The is the very castle where that torture took place. To prevent him burning too much in one place he was continually basted with oil. Further on we came to Culzean Castle. This is in much better preservation.
