My dear Mother,
Who do you think came across to see me yesterday afternoon? - Jack Moore. I think he was about 6 years old when I saw him last but I think I would have picked him out of a number as a Moore. He has the face & voice of the Moore family. He showed me a recent photo of his father, & we both remarked on the likeness I have to him.
Jack is a fine big fellow, but is looking a bit thin. He heard that I was in this locality from a man of the 3rd Division. As I was not doing much this afternoon I took the Company bike & road across to see him - a distance of 11 kilos. While we are near each other we will probably see more of one another.
Whilst riding along thro a town I came across Sewell. You might remember he was in the drafting office with me at Cobar. I had not seen him since then. Isn't it marvellous how one runs up against old acquaintances. He is now a Capt. in a Machine Gun Company, & is looking remarkably fit. His brother was killed the 3rd day after the landing at Gallipoli.
