would not take the fellow because he was not an Australian. Isn't it disgusting when we are supposed to belong to one Empire. I could understand the point if it were a foreign Government and not the Aust. Gov. Poor old Eric went off on Wednesday awfully disgusted, but is back with me again having arrived this morning.

The "Bakara" does not sail for another week, so he came down to spend some time with me. He is in uniform this time and looks awfully smart. It seems to set him off well.

I will have plenty of time to show him round a bit as the Medical Board last Friday decided that I was to have another month before appearing before them again. Surely I might be well enough for work by that time. It seems to take such a long time to pick up strength again after fever and dysentery.

The wounds are O.K. bar the hand and jaw. They still trouble me a bit
