simply had to get off & rest until we felt in a fit condition to resume the journey. However after getting home & having a good shower, we both felt like fighting cocks. I was not long out of the bath & had just a singlet, trousers & boots on & was talking to the others on the verandah when we heard screams next door & a woman calling for help. And thereby hangs a tale, but I will commence at the beginning.

Our neighbour is Mr. Lloyd manager of the Globe Timber Mills, & seems a very nice gentleman. He has a splendid house, one of the best in the district. That day (last Sunday) he went with several other gentlemen to see the Umberumberka  Waterworks. His company having the contract for the supply of all timber. It was a hot day & he must have got a touch of the sun. Apparently it did not affect him (according to his wife) until after he got home & had had his tea. Then he went clean off his head & the fun commenced. He rushed into his room & seizing a revolver started to chase his son threatening to shoot him. It was then that Mrs Lloyd came to the dividing wall & called to us for assistance. We all entered in  €“ i,e. three of us  €“ the other two being out  €“ just as we were.
