Last Thursday afternoon the 3rd Bn. had a half holiday, but as I was on duty it was too late for me to go anywhere but into Cairo to have a hot bath etc. It is very hard to find a decent place in Cairo to have a quiet meal and a bath. However I believe in my poking about I have discovered the needle in the haystack. The name of the place is Cecil House. It is here that the wives of English officers - who are stationed here - stop. It is in a very quiet part of the city, the meals are beautifully served, of excellent quality and cheap into the bargain. The hot
