He stopped a bullet with his arm on the Peninsula. Both bones of the forearm are badly smashed & every now & again small pieces of bone work their way out. They cause intense pain whilst on their journey.

Capt Hurley wrote to me saying that he is taking over the Ordnance at Bhurtpore & as he has been allotted quarters, Mrs Hurley will shortly join him. Bhurtpore is the name of one of the barracks at Tidworth, so he will be only about 1 ½ mls away. It would will be easy to run across there for Mess as altho Tidworth is a peace time camp, and all the barracks are named after Indian towns.

Met two more of the old "A" Coy 3rd Batt. men during the week. One was Cpl Timms. He got quite a shock when he saw me as he had seen the report in Egypt that I was killed. That report has been most misleading. At present Timms is driving a car for some General, & is seeing quite a lot of country cheaply.
