My dear Elsie,

This week I am addressing my home letter you to you. Just of late I have had to cut my private correspondence down to a minimum. Last Tuesday Capt Croly - the Adjutant - was sent off to London to undergo another operation. This morning I had a note from him saying that he has not had the operation yet, but is feeling much easier than when he left here.

His being away means that I have all his work to do as well as my own. It is much worse now than it was a few weeks ago, because we have just taken over No.2 Camp. I am enclosing yesterday's parade state, just to give you an idea of the number of men we have to deal with.

During the week I posted you the stockings you asked me to get. I had them sent here from London & then sent them to you.

If I had received your letter a little sooner, I could have sent them by Eric, but
