[Page 228]

Whilst Sydney weather is getting colder & colder, the reverse is happening here and it does get very hot too. Not so warm as it would be in Egypt at this time of the year. I hope we are away from here before the winter sets in, because I believe it is very bleak in a few of the winter months.

I quite forgot to congratulate Harry on his preferment before so am sending him a P.C. It is to be hoped it is more than just a promotion in name only.

I have had several very nice letters from Mrs Harry.   Like all the womenfolk we have left behind, she is doing her best to cheer those who are at the front. I wonder if all the women who do such silent but great work realise how appreciated that effort is. I am sure you still think you were repaid if you were to see the eager manner a mail is looked forward to.

Now & again since things have quietened down we can buy a few extras such as tinned milk, fruit etc. Though the price is stiff, we don't mind (if we have the money) so long as we make a change.

Will close now with love to all
Your affec, son Ralph
