Two miles from Salisbury we had a puncture & as the driver had considerately left his mending gear & spare wheel behind, we had to come on, on a flat tyre. After the trip as a tyre it was practically useless. We hired another car in Salisbury & arrived here at 4.30 pm. At 5 p.m. I received a wire to say 1700 troops from the "Wiltshire" would be coming in all that night. There was not a ration, blanket or anything in the Camp. So you can imagine we had to bustle some & yet each man when he came in got a cup of hot tea a ration & two blankets. The last lot arrived at 5.30 am.
