We hired two light boats, pulled up the river about 2 miles & had tea. Then we went about 3 miles further up & had dinner. The day was glorious & the evening better. The twilights of England are wonderful.   We got back to town just in time to catch the last train home, having been on the water for 6 hours. It is a delightful way of spending an afternoon & evening, & it often surprises me why more people do not take advantage of it.   For instance coming home we met Capt Cross & his wife. They had spent the evening at a picture show. Both of them are English, so I don't suppose they appreciate the out of door life as we do. They were only out in Australia a couple of years before war started, so they were hardly there long
