say her brother Jim had been killed in France. Her family are terribly depressed, for I believe he was a favourite brother.

I also see that Mulligan, who was in Cobar too, joined up a month or two back & is now a Major. Apparently the way to get on is to wait back in Australia. Why Australia could not follow England or France, who have had hundreds of years experience to draw on, goodness only knows.

Still the only thing to do, I suppose, is to do the best possible, & not growl.

No news this week so will close with love to all in which Jane joins me.
