My dear Mother,

A letter from you at last. We have lost so many mails of the late, that when we do get an Austn. mail, it is like getting a Xmas box. I am not surprised that the P. & O. Coy intend withdrawing their boats. They have I think lost more boats than any other Coy.

No word from Eric spo yet. I am on the lookout every day now for word from him.

Jack Moore came down to see me early in the week. The following day he was off on 10 days Paris leave. He intends staying with Annie. Annie will enjoy having him, for when she last wrote she said she hoped when he did get leave he would go to Paris & stay with her.

I got a horrible shock last week. Jane wrote to say she had been to a Dr. in Salisbury, & he told her she had appendicitis. I can tell you I worried some though I realised that would do no good.
