As we had about half an hour to wait for a train on the return home, we went through the village of Bedrashun [also spelt Badrashin]. It is quite certain that this village is seldom visited by foreigners, from the way the women folk scuttle for dear life as soon as we approach & gaze at us as we pass through cracks in the doors & windows. They are for all the world like a lot of rabbits. A woman would be coming leisurely along a street & on sighting us would immediately dart up a side lane and any open door handy. This desire not to be seen is not exhibited
