The building of Alexandria was the last straw to the camel's back. Though there are no temples, there are other items of interest. Such as the Colossi of Rameses II. Both are in a prone position. The largest was presented to the English Government by Mehemet Ali, but so far no attempt has been made to remove it. It is supposed that they are the twin Colossi mentioned by Herodotus as being erected by Sesostris (Rameses II) in front of the Temple of Ptah. This Pharaoh is the Pharaoh of the Oppression. He appears to have been very fond of himself for traces of his statues
