From the high ground on which the Mehemet Ali Mosque is built is obtained such a wonderful view of the surrounding country including the Giza and Sakarah [also spelt Saqqara] pyramids that it is bracketed with the foremost views of the world. The best point of vantage is from a portion of the surrounding parapet known as "Bey's Leap". This derived its name from the legendry leap of Emin Bey. He was the only one of the Marmelukes who escaped the massacre ordered by Mehemet Ali to which I previously alluded.

These Marmelukes threatened the reign of Mehemet Ali and the peace of Egypt.
