My dear Mother,

Your letters of the 5th & 26th March just to hand in the trenches. The socks also came along for which many thanks. They are very acceptable. Yesterday I sent a cable saying "alls well". I knew you would like to know how I got on for a start. For the first four days we had a very hard tussle, but it has been much quieter the last few days. In yesterday's mail, I received a letter from Atkinson enclosing some photos of the kiddies. I am sending them for I don't suppose the censor will leave them out. We are limited to half a page but will write fully when the censorship is reviewed.
I was surprised to hear about Frank & I hope he will be happy.

Love to all
Your affec. son,
Ralph
