the English. Before the war I was very friendly with Eugene Weber, son of Weber the watchmaker in Lackey St. and although I should be the last to say that that family have pro-German leanings, somehow or other we drifted apart.

But there isn't much doubt about the Germans being a wonderful race, their war preparation proves that. About three miles from Narrabeen there is an old "powder works" built by a German about 30 years ago. Close by is a very nice house with a tower looking out to sea and in the garden surrounding the house are several busts in stone, one of which is easily recognisable as that of Bismarck
