in Ashfield, Croydon and Burwood and one young lady whom I have not yet met writes to me from Orpington St, opposite the Park. When I was quite a small youth, I had a mania for climbing the trees in Ashfield Park and collecting birds-eggs. I must have been an inhuman little wretch then. But I paid for it in daily spankings from my adored maternal relative.

I have always been a lover of rivers and the coast although I am not very fond of the sea and I had many a good day at Cronulla, Manly, Coogee, & Bondi whilst Ive many a time raised blisters on my hands rowing on the Parramatta River.
