obtainable. No fruit, vegetables, fresh meat, butter, fresh milk not even fresh water. The latter is rationed & is brought to the island in transport ships.
I was awfully sorry to part with Lieut. Bayliss at No 16 S. Hosp. I used to enjoy listening to his descriptions of parts of England. Then I would tell him something about Australia. Thus the time went ever so much faster. When the Dr sent me down here Lt Bayliss asked to be sent down with me.
The days have been very hot, which makes it even much more trying [indecipherable].
At present I am not in a tent but a wooden building with rubberised roof. It is actually cooler than the tent. There are only five of us in at present, three of them being naval officers.
