No.1 Camp

Perham Downs
Andover,
Hants.
30. 7.16.

My dear Mother,

Two of your letters (11th & 18th June), one from Elsie, several papers & a copy of Nell's letter all came this week. Quite a big budget.

Eric has left again. He wrote to me just before sailing. He said he had an awfully good time at Leamington with Mrs Moore. It will probably be some little time before he reaches home because I think he is going via the Cape. He will like that, I know, as it will give him a chance of seeing a bit more of the world.   Elsie's letter ought to have come a week earlier & then I could have sent the stockings by Eric. But I will get them at the first opportunity & post them out. I don't know, though, when I shall be able to get to town. There is a terrible lot of work to do here, especially the last few days, the Adjutant being ill in bed. As I think I told you before, I am assistant adjutant here, so have all his work to do as well. The Adjutant is Capt Croly at one time of the Indian army.
