My dear Mother Father & Sister
Since last writing we have shifted again, we'd just got comfortable in our last billet, ovens built etc. & things were going tip top when orders came along for a shift - it takes a whole heap of humour to accept these apparently useless shifts with complaisance - still its all in the game. I was getting along fine with my French in my last Billet, this new one is rotten, the people are absolutely filthy - a bug is running around this sheet as I write so I have just committed a murder - our men are in barns again but they are I think a little more comfortable, the places are not infested with pigs or fowls. No 2 section - that is mine - is absolutely fine & soon knock themselves into shape. We have a cook house, oven for roasts made out of oil drums & working fine too, a mess tent made from a waggon cover thing stole behind the lines somewhere, a long table in it & seats made from logs, it looks bonser & comfortable.
