Glad the M.C. stunt gave you pleasure but don't run away with the idea that there was anything heroic about it, it was merely my good fortune to come out of it alive. The ribband certainly makes a difference & seems to command a certain amount of tribute from those whom you meet. It would suit my mother down to the ground.  Jerry worked with me that night but he is gone now, John Prentice who wrote me the letter is wounded August (May 6th see notes) the officer who went out often with me is also wounded mine goodness there are some gaps among the crowd already. "C'est la guerre".
