I'll tell you dinkum, I'm darned sick of this Hospital life. I never was fond of too much bed. Ah! but it's snowing out of doors now so I'd better hold my wist & be content with a good thing.
So you have Clarry "Phips" my cousin with you. I got a letter from him the same time as yours. If he is handy, Malcolm, please tell him I will soon drop him a line. I've just had another big mail from home & all is well. Stan has had a sickness, but is practically OK as per the last word from him.
I think they are going to put me up for a "Board" - "B" catogory will do me - I'm not keen on going back to Aussie until the war is over - and France can wait for a day or two. Blighty life will do me for a while - but it's no "life" in Hospital - more restrictions here than in any camp. Of course some of our lads got among the munition girls here & got "a tear in his eye" - so all night leave has been cut out. Instead we get day time route marches.
[In the margin]
I hope you are quite well & can look forward to the Best Xmas time under the circumstances.
Kindest Regards
Yours Sincerely
Harold
