on a great cliff thro my door I look over the most interesting valley in the world, at this moment it is immortalised by war, the cliff takes the form of a mighty amphitheatre, down in the basin are the reedy marshes of the River S-- really it is beautiful.

From A-- I travelled by motor lorry thro old scenes & places, past the point where I got my M.C.,  its a bit quieter today.

A lot of my chums have been wounded & some have journeyed along the "Long Trail" - dear old Jerry, McColl, & others whom I will never forget, it is like losing brothers, there is nothing like the experience of war for making chums.
