Wilfred & Jeffrey accompanied me to London Bridge station & I at 3.17 about entrained for Stroud. Uncle Joseph had sent two postcards to Aunties home giving details of trains. I had replied "Kill the fatted calf for 3.17". I was some excited and it felt as though the train would never get to Stroud, I must have examined the map dozens of times. We passed thro some beautiful country, but I was only in the humour for quick travelling. At Stroud I glanced out of the window & saw Winnie & Irene waiting on the platform & somehow I delayed hopping out of the train immediately, it was really pleasant to really see someone really waiting for you. Winnie is tall Irene is short but you wouldn't miss them in a crowd & when I did get on the platform we didn't wait for introductions I bowled right on & broke all regulations regarding "affectionate demonstration in public". Of course I started teasing Irene right away & she took it like a sport, we walked thro the streets to Kitchener Rd . Aunties house & shop is situated on a hill, they can see folks coming some 800 yds before you get there & you can bet they were looking out for us, I recognised them far away. Auntie Lizzie came right out into the street, "Malcolm laddie I'm glad to see thee lad".
