Nearby is a cage of barbed wire thro which all prisoners pass & are searched, already hundreds have gone thro, their white faces make one look we cannot take our eyes away, here is the cage for the officers in it are 3 who two of them chat & laugh the other is white & scared. They have been examined separately. In a few moments an armed guard escorts them away. Coming along the road is an Australian with fixed bayonet escorting 3 wounded Germans they link arms for mutual support & right down in my heart I feel even a sympathy for them, they look around as they go, to see
