My dear Mother Father & Sister
We are again out of the line after a good spell in, good in the sense that our friend Fritz has given very little trouble he gassed us on one or two nights & gave us a fright on others, he had a sort of set on my dug out & put shells in pretty close - might as well have put them miles away.
Today has been fairly interesting, the planes have thoroughly enjoyed themselves two or three came down. I was close to one of them the pilot was wounded behind Fritzies line & he simply hung on & landed in our lines, I watched them dress his wounds & hope he recovers.
A heavy gun has just gone off mine goodness it does rock this house, worse than an earthquake its range must be a good many miles.
May Hamilton wrote that the day she was to have left Wanganui for Raetihi she was too ill to venture out. I am sorry & sincerely trust that she was well enough later to do the journey, it would be jolly hard luck if she has to spend the time in bed.
Mabel Dickinson sent a parcel in fact
