Burgess & his crowd have been sharing our mess hut during the last 3 days - I told him I had heard from you & he sends his good wishes.
Morton has done the disappearing trick - I haven't the remotest idea where he has gone. Thurkell is still swinging it in England, some time ago he was allotted to our division, but somehow it hasn't worked, another chap got his job - nobody seems to want him.
Just now I'm doing my level best to keep some feeling in my toes "by jingo" it has turned cold & firewood is scarce - my batman is an authority for "ferreting up timber" but the task has about "got im beat", of course fuel is on issue but the quantity, it wouldn't keep a flea warm & as a consequence the chaps have to scout round, the poor old Froggie over the road is having the time of his life watching his wood pile.
I guess this Russian collapse will mean some solid scrapping next Spring, the outlook is anything but cheerful but we will muddle thro somehow.
